Hey, I’m Rob and I make wedding videos!
I love looking back on the first wedding I filmed. One of my best friends had been trying to convince me that this was the industry for me, and he was more than right. There’s nothing more humbling than being trusted to document someone’s most memorable day, it’s a feeling I will never get over. The reaction I get after providing each client with their video is better than the payment itself and is frankly a moment my fiancé and I cherish every single time.
DID YOU KNOW?
An interesting statistic I learned coming into the wedding industry was that the majority of couples had no intention of hiring a videographer for their day. Ironically, that same majority greatly regretted not hiring one as they admitted it would be the best way to relive their day.
I believe that most couples feel that in hiring a videographer, you’re inherently hiring a director that will be involved in your already stressful day making it very video-centric. While having a beautiful video is important, I do believe this can make a couple feel disconnected from their day and I believe enjoying every second of your wedding is paramount. That’s why I adopted a documentary-styled approach where I film your wedding exactly as you planned it and therefore provide an organic keepsake of your day as a timeless video.
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT MY STYLE
For one, after the couple has hired me they get to go on planning their day without video in mind. Whatever they plan, I will document it! It’s as simple as that! Once you have your timeline made, I make sure I’m where I need to be at all times.
Documentary filming also ensures the wedding feels like a wedding and not a video production. On their big day, the couple gets to focus on enjoying it as much as possible without being concerned about getting specific shots for their video. Natural moments are much more beautiful and timeless in my opinion anyways. It seems obvious, but your wedding day should be all about your wedding and not the video.
It also helps in making sure there is no back and forth between the photographer and the videographer. Often photographers and videographers are side by side for most of the day. The photographer has portraits and other specific shots they need, and I believe in allowing them to enter their creative flow without being interrupted throughout the day by the videographer setting up their other shots. It is certainly important to make sure your team of vendors is a match. When everybody gets along the overall energy of the day is elevated which inherently provides a beautiful video full of natural happiness! Thankfully my non-invasive style of filming helps in building relationships with everyone as I naturally avoid stepping on anybody’s toes.
Everybody has their taste and styles and I appreciate that! I don’t think that my approach is necessarily better, but I personally prefer the outcome and I hope my future couples do too!
I’m so happy you all took the time to learn a little about me and my style of videos, and I hope you know that I would love to hear from all of you and answer any questions you may have! I’ve been filming weddings for a few years now, and It’s thanks to the amazing couples that trust me with their day that I get to make a career out of something so fulfilling.
Happiest wedding planning to all of you,
Rob Malo
