You’ve chosen your dream photographer and booked stunning florals for your wedding. But how exactly do these two wedding vendors work together in order to create both the magic on the day-of and capture that magic for years to come? Here are a few simple tips and tricks to create the perfect marriage between your florals and your photos!
TIP 1:
Practice holding a “bouquet” before your wedding.
Hold your bouquet at your belly button, arms and elbows relaxed, a few inches away from your body. Tilt it slightly forward and off you go! (Hot tip: most bouquets weigh more than you think – don’t be caught off guard!)
TIP 2:
Find out which way your bouquet “faces”.
Your bouquet likely has a back and a front (although a great floral designer makes the back look fab, too!). When it is delivered, make sure to ask which side is the front (hot tip: your floral designer will likely indicate the back or front with pins, ribboning, etc – just ask!).
TIP 3:
How to pin that boutonnière?
Take a moment before your floral designer leaves to make sure your attendants know how to hold their bouquets, pin on their boutonnières, or attach their corsages. Most florists are happy to help with this step so that these petite creations look their best!
TIP 4:
Communication is key!
Make sure to communicate with your photographer that you would like detail shots of the floral pieces – centrepieces, ceremony pieces, welcome sign etc. A great photographer will know to take these, but communication is still important! And of course, you need to allow time in the photographer’s schedule for these shots.
TIP 5:
Time is of the essence!
Make sure your planner or co-ordinator and photographer has left time for room shots – with the excitement and emotion of the moment, you may not be able to take it all in on the day of and you’ll want to look back in awe of your beautiful reception and ceremony design.
TIP 6:
When in doubt, trust the pros.
Your florist really is the best person to choose the exact flowers and foliages to suit the time of year, weather, and location where you are being married. You won’t be happy with the pictures if your flowers are sad-looking from the heat or blackened from the freezing cold! Absolutely share your floral inspiration and favourite blooms, but be sure to listen to their advice. A good floral designer will choose the hardiest, most beautiful blooms for the job, but you need to trust them.
A great florist and a great photographer are essential to having a smooth, beautiful, and stress-free day. Make the most of your gorgeous day and have those memories captured brilliantly!
